Regulators shut down Gulf of Maine shrimp fishery, say stock has ‘collapsed’

(from bangordailynews.com)

“PORTLAND, Maine — Northeastern regulators shut down the Gulf of Maine shrimp fishery for the first time in 35 years Tuesday afternoon, worried by reports of what researchers called a fully “collapsed” stock that could be driven to near extinction with any 2014 catch”

Well, the situation is not too good, between various extinctions driven by overfishing, there is the damage in the south caused by the deepwater horizon spill and the death patch on the pacific, for the west coast, most likely caused by Fukushima.

All keeps going with BAU towards extinction. We may end up on planetary scale like the easter island, but let’s keep listening to religions and economics ‘growth’ quackeries and continue procreating like idiots.
